Take the cheese path less trodden. Everyone can enjoy a balanced board on Boxing Day but confining your cheese adventure to Christmas feels a little…unadventurous.

A Season in Cheese will showcase the very best a season has to offer. You'll receive 3 deliveries - 1 each month for 3 months - of exceptional artisan cheese that's truly at the peak of its life. From the comfort cheese that suits a winter's evening to the fresher cheeses that suit a summer sharing board, each box will be a window into the world of seasonal cheese.

In each selection you'll receive 5, seasonal, artisan cheeses. Each will weigh around 120g giving you a total of approximately 600g per box.

A Season in Cheese includes 3 boxes over the next 3 months (from whichever start date you choose at checkout)

As well as the cheese, you will receive tasting notes, pairing tips and have the chance to rate and score each cheese.

During checkout, you will be able to select your preferred delivery date. This is great if you're buying as a gift or are organising your cheese in advance. The cheese will be packed in chilled, insulated boxes (that look great!) and will always be prepared on the day it is dispatched. A few other handy pointers:

    - We use DHL nationwide and Packfleet within the M25

    - Please use the delivery date you have selected as a guide rather than a guarantee.

    - Your cheese will arrive in the best condition. It will have been prepared freshly and will not have been with our courier beyond our maximum of 48hrs

    - You will receive delivery notifications for when your order is dispatched that mean you can track when it’s in transit

If you aren’t in for your delivery, this won’t matter. Our couriers will leave your cheese in you designated safe place in our climate controlled packaging.

We’re a small business working with an (incredible) perishable product. For advice on delivery or any cheesy questions, get in touch via the live chat or on hello@thecheesegeek.com

    Is cheese seasonal?

Most of us are very aware of the seasonality of fruit and vegetables, and even meats such as venison and lamb. However, given global production, the truth is that in many of these products are now available all year round.

Cheese however isn’t always associated with seasonality, and yet it is a product that is arguably more seasonal than any. If you are only eating cheese at Christmas, you are missing out…big time.

    Exclusive taste-alongs

Each season Edward, founder at cheesegeek and judge at the World Cheese Awards (think Oscars, but cheese) will host a taste-along of his favourite cheeses that season. He'll get geeky about what's tasting great and even what's not, the differences you might see...all from the comfort of your own sofa. Or bath. Or wherever you choose to snaffle your selection.

    My seasonal favourites

As we enter early winter, here are a few of my favourites at this time of year:

Moreton: A very traditional winter cheese, aged for around 3-4 months and just lovely around this time of year.

Comte: Not a British cheese of course, but a world famous French cheese one that is just about perfect at this time of year. Best aged around 18-20mths, so the sweetspot for age and mid-summer milk falls right around Christmas time.

Baron Bigod: Catching the very last of the grass-fed cows milk before they come in for the winter, Baron Bigod is so perfectly rich, decadent and complex at this time of the year.
